Im having a bit of trouble wiring the tail light and I thought you guys might be able to help me out. Its my first time going into something like this and I got stuck here since I have very little knowledge. I have a yamaha v star 650 in which im installing a 59' tail light. The Vstar's lighting wiring is divided into 5 colors, a color per blinker(2), key power, brake and ground. I know that my blue wire is key, black one is ground and yellow is brake. Now the tail light only has two wires, the black one I assumed was the ground, and a green one which I'm assuming is for all the other stuff the tail light does. I tried pluggin in my running light to it and it worked. so I figure if I just get my yellow cable(break) into the same connection then once I hit the break it would brighten up the bulb. But it doesnt. If I wire the green wire from the tail light to the break light. Its always bright. Constantly, not just when I hit the break.

Anyone knows how to fix this...

Thanks for your help.

generally when you have a bulb that is on constantly and then gets brighter when you step on the brake its a dual philament bulb. one wire for the low light philament and one wire for the bright philament and a common ground.

hope this helps.
